When Roundup was approved by the FDA in the early 90's, the testing done to ascertain its safety only included the herbicide's active ingredient glyphosate. As many putative inert chemicals in a pesticide formulation can be more toxic than the active ingredients, the entire testing process ultimately leading to Roundup's approval was invalid. Why the FDA would endorse a protocol that proves nothing regarding the safety of pesticides is a more than reasonable question. The fact that the FDA continues to evaluate the impacts of pesticides on the environment and public safety using the same flawed protocol demonstrates a degree of ineptitude beyond comprehension or fealty to the same corporate ideology that is destroying the only planet we have. What is good for Monsanto's bottom line is more than likely the antithesis of anything that can be linked to the propagation of a healthy and stable biosphere. Greed is not good it is just greed. jj
