America's Cheerleader for Greed

Larry Kudlow strikes me as a particularly nasty and shallow individual who has managed to do quite a bit of mischief from his bully pulpit on CNBC. Kudlow fancies himself as a "supply sider" economist which means he is an idiot. He was one of 250 economists who signed a letter endorsing the economic polices of George W. Bush. This would be the same George W. Bush who led us into a horrific war with Iraq that was based entirely on lies. A recent report from the Watson Institute at Brown University estimates that this massive war crime led to the deaths of well over one hundred thousand civilians and will cost us trillions of dollars. The cost for Bush's little pecadillo Iraq was never paid for ; it was put on the national credit card. As a conservtive economist, Kudlow has been routinely attacking President Obama since his election for his contributions to the national debt. Yet Larry supported the man who gave us Afghanistan, Iraq, the housing bubble, bailouts, corporate enabling, and an endless stream of vile and vituperative mendacity. Instead of criticizing the corrupt Bush debacle, Larry loved the freewheeling capitalistic orgy of deregulation and tax cuts for nasty rich guys like himself. And I am pretty certain we can't blame Larry's muddled sensibilites on his addiction to ethanol and cocaine since he claims to have kicked his predilection for drug abuse in the 90's.

Larry is also opposed to most kinds of regulation. After all, how can the rich enjoy unfettered capitalism when there might be somebody watching? Don't worry Larry, the Obama people share most of your values. They might be watching, but the only consequence will be really eloquent rhetoric. And why would anybody want to regulate a company like British Petroleum just because they mortally injured an ecosystem that provides more free services to the global economy than all of your revered billionaires combined. And everyone knows that climate change is left wing fantasy and a real buzz-killer for guys like you who just want to keep making lots more money even though our life support system is really fucked up.

I have to admit that it was mildly  intoxicating for me to fantasize that my house was worth 600,000 pesos, during that Bush housing bubble that must have given you multiple daily boners for the first time in years. However, at no time, as in NEVER, did I think of that inflated, engorged value as anything other than funny money. I wondered who these people were who were buying homes that two or three years ago were worth only half as much or less than they paid for them. Even I know that somthing is only worth as much as you can get for it.  How could anyone possibly afford to pay the mortgage, with very little down, on a cape overpriced at 400,000 bucks? Well my assumption was that they couldn't. I don't have an MBA from Harvard or Chicago, birthplace of nuclear weapons and the Friedman ( I know Uncle Milton was your hero) school of trickle down economics but I know a scam when I see it. Sadly, all that ever trickled down was drool from the highly devolped avarice glands of Friedman zombies like you Larry. At least I knew that there was a lot of poop out there about to hit the proverbial fan. Most average people with an picogram of sense knew this as well. And I suspect you and your rich friends were more than aware of the gargantuan fraud being committed against the American people. I suspect the Wall Street sociopaths figured that as long as there was breath in the golden goose it was worth pretending otherwise. The government, Hanky 'panky" Paulson, the punditocracy, economists ( at least the ones who grace your tabloid program night after night), nor the "complicit as usual, "asleep at the switch" media, betrayed any public intimation of the coming tragedy. I say tragedy because the people who got hurt are the one's who always get hurt when the criminals with too much money aren't being properly supervised.  It was poor people and  middle class suckers who really believed there was such a thing as the American dream. Since I am a science guy I will define my what I mean by middle class: anyone making less than a 100,000 dollars a year. These are same people who play by the rules, believe in all or most of the mythology of the American creed, and who have very lttle to begin with except their homes, and their families whom they see very little of because they are working two jobs so that they can fulfill their responsibilities to be good consumers and good Americans. So now the system collapses, not surprisingly. No one will go to jail. Suddenly, Wall St. has found socialism isn't all that bad, even as they seek ways to profit from the 700 billion dollar taxpayer bailout. Its funny Larry how we privatize profit, even theft, but socialize the risk. Perhaps one day Americans will figure out that they are just pawns to be used and thrown away when their utility has been fully exploited. One thing I am certain of Larry is that you will always be a massive dick parasitizing people who actually work for their money.
