The Mythology of Charters
Education policy is supposedly data driven which provides legitimacy to the so-called school reform movement. There are many problems with politics driving changes in our public schools. One of the more egregious is the use of "data" from bad studies paid for by partison groups who want only one desired outcome: the perception that public schools are failing our childrfen and the only possible remedies are vouchers, charter schools, privatization, and virtual academies. Most of the data used to promulgate this hard right-wing agenda is the result of social scientists, sincere or otherwise, pretending they can do science.
